NTSB narrative

The government of India has notified the NTSB of an incident involving an Airbus A320 airplane that occurred on October 30, 2019. An IndiGo Air Airbus A320-271N Neo powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW1127G-JM geared turbofan engines experienced a No. 1 (left) engine failure during climb which was preceded by an ENG#1 stall warning and high vibration during its flight from Kolkata Airport, Indian to Pune Airport, India. The airplane performed an in-flight shutdown of the No. 1 engine, an air turn back, and an uneventful landing was made.
