NTSB narrative

On a February day in 2025 at Chicago Midway International Airport in Illinois, a Bombardier Challenger 350 (BD-100-1A10) taxiing for departure failed to hold short of Runway 31 Center as instructed by the tower controller, crossing into the path of a Boeing 737-800 on short final. The Southwest Airlines crew executed an immediate go-around, and all 145 people involved — 142 aboard the 737 and 3 aboard the Challenger — were uninjured. The event is classified as a runway incursion and is under NTSB investigation (DCA25LA141).
